Digital printing
Solmentes Press has used digital prints for tipped-in illustrations in books since 2000. These days illustrations are generally printed directly on to the text paper. Recently whole books (text and illustrations) have been printed digitally, for example To Autumn and My Fellow Citizens.
Printing on the uncoated book papers yields a softer print while printing on specialty coated papers offer razor sharp images with brilliant, vibrant colours.
The editions range from 30 – 200 copies.
Two inkjet printers are used:
Epson Stylus Photo R2400, maximum paper width: single sheet – 13", roll paper - 13". Maximum printable area 13" x 44". Maximum single sheet – 13 x 19".
Epson Stylus Pro 3800, maximum sheet size – 17 x 22". Both printers use 8-color Epson UltraChrome K3 pigment-based inks, with three levels of black.
